Eden’s Drifting Vessel

steel, flower, 5000*5000*1500mm,2021

Forged from interlaced steel wires, this vessel echoes the silhouette of Noah’s Ark—the iconic symbol of salvation and solidarity in Judeo-Christian mythology. Its hull is adorned with clusters of dried flowers, each bloom stretching outward like a silent testament to life that persists beyond its prime.

Drawing from two foundational biblical narratives, the work merges the primordial purity of Eden—the divine cradle of all creation—with the redemptive spirit of the Ark, which bore the weight of survival amid the Great Flood. The steel frame, cold and unyielding, represents the fragility and resilience of the human condition; the withered flowers, though stripped of their vivid hues, embody the sacred spark of hope that endures through wandering and tribulation.

In a world fraught with division and uncertainty, this installation invites viewers to reflect on our shared destiny: we are all passengers on a single drifting vessel, bound by the duty to safeguard the fragile, timeless beauty that connects every living thing. Just as Eden’s sanctity and the Ark’s promise converge here, so too do our individual fates intertwine in a journey toward renewal.
