Nothing Missing, 2022
Nothing Missing is a painting derived from one year of daily thread colors recorded in Then Thursday Comes Again. Each small vertical mark corresponds to a day’s stitching. During Shanghai’s 2022 lockdown, the artist ran out of colored thread and continued sewing with transparent fishing line. In the painting, this period is left blank, interrupting an otherwise continuous sequence of colored marks. The work brings together the persistence of a daily ritual and the limits of its visible record, leaving open the question of what remains, and what is lost, in the passage from lived experience to representation.

As of Today, 2023
As of Today transforms the weekly records of Then Thursday Comes Again into individually sealed fortune cookies, one for each weekly tote bag. Each cookie contains a slip recording the date, city, and weather of a particular day, alongside a global news event from that same day. Traditionally associated with predictions of the future, the fortune cookie instead reveals an already established past. With a shelf life of approximately nine months from manufacture, each cookie introduces another measure of time: the interval between the recorded event, the object’s creation, its expiration, and the moment it is opened. The work explores the shifting relationship between past, present, and future, where a historical fact becomes an unexpected revelation.
